Extensive FSX tweaking blog
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe via email or RSS feed. You may also be interested to know that we have a thriving forum where you can meet with flight simulator fans worldwide. Thanks for visiting!
I’ve just been looking over this blog from topomatt which has a very extensive list of tweaks for fsx. It looks as if the author has collected a vast amount of information from various sources, all credited and linked back to the original source and it looks like it’s updated regularly, so be sure to bookmark it and check back regularly.

First FS2Crew product for FSX
FS2Crew have released their first product for FSX, for the default 747. For those of you who haven’t discovered their products, they add an additional layer of realism to flight simming. They incorporate virtually all check-lists relating to the real aircraft, and add additional touches that really add to the atmosphere of a flight, such as flight attendant and ground crew voices.
I haven’t a chance to try this one yet, but I have their products for Level-D’s wonderful 767 and Flight1’s Skyhawk 172, both for FS9.
If you want to add even more emersion to your simming, I’d recommend trying this out.

Official Microsoft FSX support and ActiveSky upgrade
Microsoft have set up a support page for FSX. At the moment, it looks fairly generic, but there are links to Performance, Setup etc, so they may offer some more specific tuning advice in the future.
In other news, HiFiSim are offering a free upgrade of ActiveSky, the real-time weather application, to existing registered owners of previous ActiveSky versions, adding support for FSX. As a long time user of ActiveSky, I’m pleased they’re offering the free upgrade. As well as offering extremely realistic weather updates, you can also set an option to limit visibility (I set mine to 20 miles). This makes for a more realistic view and gives the sim a performance boost to boot.

Site news and an FSX performance guide
The transition of the site to a blog is almost complete. Hope you like the changes. They will allow us to post more frequent updates more easily, which will hopefully benefit everyone.
We’ve kept the forum in place, so if you have any questions, or just want to chat to other flight simmers, please join up (for free, of course).
PMDG, producers of some of the very best add-ons for FS9, have published a free FSX performance guide on their site. This is absolutely essential reading for all FSX owners. The performance increase on my system after carrying out the tweaks in the guide is nothing short of outstanding. Be sure to also check the PDF document mentioned in the guide.
