No more FsNavigator?

by mark.avey on December 25, 2007

Sorry for sad news on Christmas Day, but it looks as if FsNavigator - in my opinion by far the best utility add-on for Flight Simulator 2004 and earlier sims - may be biting the dust.

You can read a forum announcement on the subject here.

The FsNavigator site is still up and running as I write this post, so if you’re a registered user, as I am, I would make sure you have the files downloaded in case the site suddenly goes down.

Sad news, indeed, from a developer of such a respected application. I wish the author well in his future endeavors.

Indeed sad news. FSNav was awesome and will be sorely missed. I had forseen this happening as the planned release date came and went with no news, so I purchased FSCommander. It’s nice, but wish it had topo information on the map, and wish it would fly the approach all the way to the ground. BUT FSCommander has AI traffic on the map which is very cool! No hard feelings to the author, and for those who are giving the author a hard time, leave em alone he doesn’t work for you. Posting nasty comments will not make FSNavigator come back.

Hi Justin,

I couldn’t agree more. One thing I really don’t understand is when people knock software developers like this. Let’s face it - they do us a favour when they write outstanding applications like this. They don’t “owe” us anything and anything they produce is a bonus. Having a go at them is most likely only going to make them want to give up.

I just wish the people criticising would take a moment to step back and think how they would feel if they were on the receiving end.

I’m totally new to Flight Sim. I want to purchase a copy of FS 2004. The specs state I need a Pentium chip. I have a Celeron chip. I’m not sure what video graphics card I have in my Toshiba laptop.

Does anyone know if FS ‘04 will run well on a Celeron?

Thanks.

Hi, You may struggle a bit with the Celeron. What speed is it? Also, laptop’s normally have integrated graphics, which are not so great for flight sims.
