The X-Plane.org forum has posted an interview with Austin Meyer, the creator of X-Plane.
There’s some interesting stuff on there. The most significant, as far as I’m concerned, is the following:
Austin, can you describe briefly the new features of X-Plane version 9?
Austin Meyer: Well, the really cool ones are the no-pause for scenery load (using the second processor) and the reflective water and volumetric fog. Finally we are really starting to get to a realistic, no-pause virtual world. THIS is where stuff is really starting to get interesting.
Having tried all the Betas of version 9, I can confirm that this works a treat. There is absolutely no pausing whatsoever for scenery loads and it all adds immensely to the feeling of fluidity.
Check out the rest of the interview on the X-Plane.org forum.
