Help me build the definitive Flight Simulator add-on directory

by mark.avey on September 12, 2007

This is something of an experiment I’d like some help with. I’ve been taking a look at a relatively new web site called ListPhile. This fantastic site satisfies my obsession with making lists for everything :) So, I thought, why not create a list of all Flight Simulator add-ons?

Well, I couldn’t think of a good reason not to, so I created one - you can find it here. It’s only got a couple of entries at the moment, as I’ve been concentrating on getting the format correct. Anyone can contribute, so please go ahead and add your favourite add-on to the list. One thing I would request is that you add the simulator type to the “Tags” section, e.g. FSX, Condor etc.

As I said, it’s really just an experiment at the moment. However, I can see it being a useful resource for simmers if it gets used sufficiently.

Let me know what you think!

Hi there Mark — great idea! I also want to let you know that we are working on an embeddable version of our lists/databases and atlases, so that you can embed it in your blog, too. I see it as a portable, widgetified database. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, and thanks for showing interest in Listphile.

Hi Steve,

I’m looking forward to the embeddable version. That’ll fit nicely here and on other flight sim sites.

Mark,

Just wanted to let you know that a first version of our embeddable lists is available. It’s a simple copy and paste affair from the right margin of your Flight Sim Addons list.

It’s a new feature, and as such is still in it’s alpha state. It’s pretty cool, however, and we’re psyched to get it out there.

Soon we will give people more control over look and feel, as well as font size, width, etc. Let me know if you embed it somewhere, and I’ll take a look.

Thanks for your interest,

Steve from Listphile

Thanks for the heads-up, Steve. I’ll take a look at getting it embedded here.
