More Flight Simulator videos

As I hinted at only a few days ago, it looks as if Flight Simulator add-on creators are starting to turn to video as a medium to show off their wares. I think this is terrific idea and AlphaSim seems to be leading the field in this area.
Check out the videos area of their web site for some real treats. These are worth watching even if you never intend to actually buy any of the add-ons.
I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of these in the near future.

It would be interesting to know if releasing the video’s has had an effect on their sales and if so what kind of increase they’ve experienced. It’s got to be a better marketing strategy than resting on your laurels and waiting for word of mouth to get round.
There are some awesome videos coming out from various companys, ( Land of VOZ for instance). I certainly enjoy watching them and they do add to my decision on whether to purchase or not. I agree with PieEater and wonder what effect, if any, it has on their sales.
Mark would you be able to ask the question of Alphasim? I’m sure they’d be willing to give some kind of comment given that you’ve let them have some space and praise
I’ll send them a message and see what they come back with. As you say, it would be interesting to see what difference it’s made. You’d have to assume it’s worthwhile for them, as they’re continuing to produce them.

Just had this note back form Phil at AlphaSim:
“it’s not something that we can easily quantify. However I think with the growing usage if video content on the web it will become the norm to have a video with every single new release, in fact this is what we have just started doing.”

Thanks for asking Mark, perhaps not the definitive answer we’d wanted, but like you say if it wasn’t beneficial to them they wouldn’t be doing it. There must be a fair amount of work that goes into their videos as all that I’ve watched have been pretty amazing.
If nothing else, it’s definitely raising the profile of the products, even if just by the fact that we’re discussing them, so it’s all good publicity.
