CYYJ (2008) freeware released
Don Grovestine has released his freeware CYYJ (2008) airport for Flight Simulator X and Flight Simulator 2004.
CYYJ (2008) is a Microsoft Flight Simulator FS9 and FSX add-on covering the Victoria, British Columbia, Canada international airport and surrounding area. It is compatible with UTX - Canada (FSX), with UT Canada/Alaska and several other FS9 add-ons including Victoria+, and VIVA Base, but none are required. CYYJ (2008) is provided in a single load module with installer.
CYYJ (2008) features
- An airport definition (AFCAD file) based on high-resolution aerial photos that:
- accurately places all runways and taxiways
- provides realistic taxiway and apron markings
- eliminates the rounded FS9-generated taxiway/runway intersection fillets and inserts triangular turning “gussets” where the latter exist at the real CYYJ, and
- specifies representative taxiway, runway and approach lighting
- A terminal building that, from only a short distance, could be mistaken for the real thing and about sixty other very detailed buildings - all modeled with GMax and “painted” with hand-drawn textures
- realistic terrain profiles at both ends of Runway 09/27 and at the approach end of Runway 13 (that were removed by the FS9 default flatten)
- Taxiway and apron signage accurate as to both position and content
- fencing from the fire station in West Camp, past the terminal and around to the east end of Runway 09/27 and
- drive-through” parking for airlines at the terminal and for GA throughout East Camp and West Camp (if your AI includes ACA, JZA, WJA, QXE and/or PCO, the aircraft will take their usual positions around the main terminal).
CYYJ (2008) is available for download from both Avsim.com and Flightsim.com. Please check the Status Page for known issues, patches and update information.

Golden Age Simulations Releases Classic Waco Collection
Golden Age Simulations has released their Classic Waco Collection for Flight Simulator X and Flight Simulator 2004.
Golden Age Simulations is proud to present, to the flight simulator community, our Classic WACO Collection.
This offering is modeled around the venerable WACO Model 10. With over 11,000 aircraft manufactured, the Model 10 put WACO on the map of the Golden Age. It made WACO a household name that has endured throughout the ages. Our package includes four aircraft and is essentially a journey through the evolution of the ‘10.
Start by stepping into the OXX 6 powered Model 10. Water cooled, the radiator hangs above the pilot and passenger. Better keep your cool! Many passengers and pilots came home wet when the radiator boiled over.
Next in the package is the little known Milwaukee Parts Company (Tank Brothers) conversion, essentially an air cooled version of the Model 10. This version of the three seat Waco Ten was the standard airplane modified by replacing the less than perfect Curtiss OX-5/OXX-6 series engine with the air cooled version of the OX-5 produced by the Milwaukee Parts Company. It was designated the GXE.
The ASO brings you through the thirties and to the modern age. Known variously as the Waco Sport Ten, the Ten W, the Waco 220, and eventually the ASO, this model appeared in June 1927 when the Advance Aircraft Company mated their basic Waco Ten airframe with the fabulous 220 hp Wright J5 engine. The increase in power resulted in spectacular performance, and over 90 examples were built before it was succeeded by the later CSO, which was basically the same airframe with the new 225 hp Wright J6-7.
Your journey continues with the CTO-R, the Model 10 for this century. Fully equipped and sporting the Jacobs R-755 engine. This is the ultimate sportsman’s craft. She’s slick and fast and a joy for any pilot who is willing to take her to the edge.

VASFMC 2.0 Alpha 7 +MSFS Gauge Public Testing
Virtual Aviation Suite has released a new version of their VASFMC, which now includes a version for FS2004:
As many people were hoping, this release also contains the MS FS2004 gauge version plus customized versions of the Project Airbus A319 and A320 models including the vasFMC gauge integrated into the Ken Mitchel Airbus panel.
Additionally there is also a great new HTML documentation available for vasFMC 2.0. Its not fully complete yet but nevertheless a must for the new release.
There are a huge number of changes for this release - way too many to list here - so head over to their forum for further details.
