Flight Simulator in your browser!
I love it when developers start pushing things to the limit. Electric Oyster, a development team “specializing in developing state of the art digital entertainment and other interactive content for web and mobile devices on behalf of corporate and small businesses worldwide”, have released a working “proof of concept” of a flight simulator using Flash that runs inside your browser! The screenshot shown here is from the simulator
As it currently stands, it’s pretty limited, but it is one of those things that gets you thinking. In its current form, you can fly over a 3D mountainous snowscape. There’s no instrumentation yet and freedom of movement is fairly limited, but the “flight” experience is extremely smooth. I think there’s a lot of potential here and I’d love to see the team develop this further, but only time will tell.
