Donations welcome

This post could be construed as something of a begging letter and, to some extent, it is.

FlightSimX has grown beyond all my expectations. I’ve been somewhat amazed at it’s growth and continued support from you, the readers, over the relatively short period of its existence.

However, success comes with a price! We’ve now grown to such a size that it’s becoming a problem for our web site hosting company to keep up with us. Pretty soon, I’m going to have to upgrade the hosting package in a pretty significant way. This all costs money and time, as I’m sure you can imagine.

You may have noticed (I’m sure you have) that there is increased advertising on the site. This is in an effort to recover some of the hosting and admin costs involved in running the site. Today, I’ve added a little widget in the left sidebar called ChipIn. If you’d like to consider making a donation towards the ongoing costs, that’s the place to do it. If I get enough donations, I’ll not only be able to upgrade the site performance, I’ll be able to start removing some of the ads, so everyone wins

Now, obviously, nobody asked me to create the site so I’ll fully accept the “nobody’s forcing you to do it” argument but, if you do feel you’d like to help, it would be very much appreciated.

Update: Perfect timing! ChipIn seem to be having some problems, so if you’d like to make a donation and the ChipIn widget isn’t showing, I’ve added a Donate button you can use instead.
