YouTube for Flight Simmers!
SimTube aims to do for the flight sim community what YouTube has done for the rest of the planet by providing a mechanism for people to upload and view flight simulator related videos. There’s only 1 video to view at the moment, but I reckon this shows promise, so keep an eye on it.
From the site:
SimTube.com is the brainchild of Cason Farmer and Alexander Barrett. These two flight simulation enthusiasts realized that the video enthusiasts and producers in this great community, had absolutely no simple recourse when it came time to host, share, and openly discuss their niche hobby. These community members needed all of these things.Knowing this, Alex and Cason started work on what was to become the central hub for all flight simulation video producers and enthusiasts to freely host, share, and openly discuss their hobby within a hobby.
After several months of development, idea compilation, many hours of coding, gallons of coffee, and hours of VOIP time, they have brought to the table exactly what this community has needed… SimTube.com!
Now that you have SimTube, you have a friendly environment where you can host, share, and discuss your videos and your love for this niche hobby. Its all here - a one stop shop! Please enjoy all that we have to offer here at SimTube!

Perfect timing. I’ve just captured a 10 minute flight over my home town which showcases Horizons VFR Gen X. I edited it in Windows Movie Maker and it’s actually pretty good if I say so myself.
Problem is it’s ~260Mb and Google Video Uploader isn’t liking it for some reason and YouTube doesn’t allow over 100Mb.
Just signed up to SimTube, doesn’t allow over 100Mb either
Ah, shame about the limit. What software are you using to record the flights? I’d like to create some FS movies myself
I use FRAPS but it creates one hell of an overhead, not that FSX needs any excuse to stutter, but it still produced a pretty good video. I’m currently FTP’ing it now to my webspace. The moment it’s published I’ll link you to it so you can see for yourself.
I shall try to send the video to Google at work as we have SDSL there as most people prefer a stream than a download.
Uploaded. The credits at the end display my computer specification and the tools I used to capture and produce the video.
