Aerosoft releases Mega Airport London Heathrow X

by mark.avey on October 25, 2007

Aerosoft has released the Flight Simulator X version of their Heathrow Airport add-on:

heathrow_34

The first large airport that does not slow FSX down to a crawl without skimping on features and number of objects happens to be one of the largest and most complex airports, London Heathrow. By a time consuming process of optimizing SimWings was able to deliver Heathrow to FSX almost as fast as it is on FS2004 (using multi core CPU’s of course).

  • Airport layout based on official maps representing the airport in 2008
  • New T 5 buildings, taxiway layout of October 2008
  • Hundreds of taxiway signs and runway details
  • AI-Traffic compatible. AFCAD file contains every possible gate. Gates are assigned to specific airlines.
  • All docking guidance systems of the real Heathrow airport are rebuilt
  • Dynamic scenery. Some static aircrafts (low polygon models) as an option
  • High resolution ground and object textures (and normal textures as an installer option for older graphics cards)

All current users of the FS2004 version will find a complementary download link to the FSX version on their order history page.

I’ve not tried it myself. Has anyone else given this a try?
