AlphaSim seem to be pumping out aircraft at an alarming rate :)

Today, they have released their Sikorsky S-55 / Westland Whirlwind for Flight Simulator X and Flight Simulator 9/2004:

New addition to the Helicopters section - the Sikorsky S-55 / Westland Whirlwind ! A classic helicopter in every respect, the S-55 or Whirlwind was a 1950’s rotorcraft pioneer. The AlphaSim package includes five variations - Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, US Marines, US Army and Royal Canadian Navy, both as FSX and FS9 versions. The highly detailed textures are especially brought to life in the FSX version which is full-spec (bump mapping, self-shadowing etc). A glorious piston engine soundset really sets the scene, custom smoke fx from the exhaust on startup adds to the ‘period charm’ ! Full startup and shutdown sequences as well as the rotor brake & clutch to stop the blades mean this one can be operated authentically. The detailed checklist, reference card and finely-tuned flight model make this a joy to fly for beginners and expert helicopter fans alike. The panel and v-c are of a high standard, the v-c even includes the cabin area where you can slew down and play at being the winchman (winchman viewpoint incl. in FSX) ! The tailhook function will extend the winch cable and hook and the pilots can be toggled on/off and their seats raised to the access position (FS9 only). The full telescopic suspension animations, sliding windows and side door just add to the realism of this great package. Source texture files are included to help repainters create the great many possible repaints for these marvellous old helis. For FS2004/FSX only. Filesize 24MB. Price approx. $28USD, £14, 20.50EUR
