An all-new demo (100Mb) is now available to download here. This demo covers Shoreham and part of the south coast of England (from Volume 1). It also includes three pre-saved flights so you get flying immediately in the area covered by the Volume 1 scenery.

For some before/after comparison screenshots, see here - we think you’ll notice the difference!

Volume 1 covers all of Greater London, Kent, East Sussex, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and parts of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Surrey and West Sussex.

Principal towns featured include: Canterbury, Folkestone, Dover, Brighton, Dorking, London, Basildon, Colchester, Ipswich, Norwich, Cambridge, Peterborough, Bedford, Luton and Watford

VFR Real Scenery uses the very latest 25cm digital aerial images from GeoPerspectives displayed at 1m per pixel resolution in FSX.

  • Includes 9.6m mesh terrain data which hugely improves the default relief
  • Individually edited night textures make flying after dark a real eye-opener!
  • Water features are rendered with Flight Simulator X water effects – you can land a seaplane in VFR Real Scenery
  • Airport runways are correctly aligned between FSX and VFR Real Scenery – there are no ghosts in VFR Real Scenery!

To be honest all the screenshots do for me is to make me realise what a good job Microsoft have done done with the default scenery.

They have done a good job with the default scenery, but for site-seeing and “proper” VFR flying, you can’t beat these scenery add-ons.

I guess, but in terms of making me want to purchase the product the comparison screenies didn’t do it for me. I did download the demo of Horizon’s product as the screenshot they had looked great, not got round to trying it yet (damn flu, just got enough motivation to post a few posts but nothing else apart from sleep).
