DreamFlyer Motion Platform for Flight Simulators

July 30, 2007

Would you like to meet hundreds of other flight sim fans? If so, check out The Flight Simulator Network, where you'll find thousands of flight sim screenshots, hundreds of videos, forums, blogs, live chat and more. Join our fast growing community today!

dreamflyerDreamFlyer have released details of their gimbal framed full motion platform for flight simulators that has taken over 5 years to develop. The device simulates movement, pitch, roll, vibration, pilot lead and pilot-induced  oscillation!

I might have to try and clear some room in the attic for this one :)

The device appears to be in the late stages of development (check out the very impressive web site) and close to being released. The following videos are of a prototype system:

No specific price is mentioned, but it does state “no other product on the market offers this level of full motion flight simulation for less than $3,600″, so I guess that’s what they’re aiming at.

I can see that leading to one or two wiring issues :)

Price is 2800.00 USD + shipping and handling. Far more exciting than a shuffleboard table for 3500.00! Business anylists are calling it the “Trivial Pursuit” of this decade!

Question…came across this site just recently. With a name like “Flight Sim X” is this owned by Microsoft of independent?

It’s a very well done site, isn’t it? 2,800 is quite a bit lower than the price I saw – not bad at all.

Hi Dan. FlightSimX is an independent site, run by yours truly. Keep up the visits :)

Well, it looks as though Microsoft thinks highly of this Dreamflyer also & is the best way to play their all new Flight Simulator Acceleration expansion pack. Check this story out which was just released after a media event in Toronto, Canada

The creator of the Dreamflyer must be pretty pleased if Microsoft are showing an interest :)

I’ve tried the production “Dream Flyer”. I never thought my little contraption would fly to this height.
