New motion platform launched

by mark.avey on October 7, 2007

FOTO SIMUL Flightemotion (cool name, really bad looking web site! I’ll forgive the language translation, obviously, but what IS that thing scrolling across the top of the page too fast to read?!) has announced a new motion platform for flight simulator users that looks quite interesting:

We have recently developed a motion platform and static cockpit enclosure mainly for Cessna C172 and C182 aircrafts, to increase a flight sensation. The enclosure construction concept is very easy and based on BEND and BOND manufacturing process that make very easy shipping and mounting. Material used to build a cockpit is aluminium aeronautic grade honeycomb sandwich panels precut in size with high technology machines.

Our new motion platform is a new 6 DOF motion system, modular, cheapest than products actually offered on the market, suitable for home and professional applications and based on BUY by STEP open philosophy.

The product itself shows promise, but it does seem rather expensive. Also, guys, sorry to say it again and it’s nothing personal, but you need to look at the design of your site. A lot of potential purchasers might well take one look at the site and run.

Is it really necassry to use “aluminium aeronautic grade honeycomb sandwich panels”?

Is weight an issue for this thing, or are they trying to make it sound cooler?

I guess it would cut down on postage costs! Seriously, though, I suppose it’s less weight for the motors to have to shift…
