Saitek flight instrument LCD’s

by mark.avey on July 26, 2007

saitek-independent-flight-sim-lcds-20070725115818316 Saitek has offered a sneak preview of some interesting looking Flight Instrument LCD’s they’re working on specifically for flight simulator fans.

Saitek really seem to be getting into the flight simulation arena recently, what with the recent announcement of their Pro Yoke and Pedals (see here and here) and now these LCD’s. With a planned price of only $99.95, I’m sure these will be very popular amongst both cockpit builders and even slightly more casual simmers.

Check out the main story over at IGN.

With each guage having adjustment knobs and buttons to press it looks like they could serve a variety of purposes and not just the basic guages shown. If I could adjust the heading bug and VOR dials via these I’d be very interested !!!!

Saitek have a lot of experience making programmable hardware, so I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m really looking forward to having a proper look at these.

What PieEater says. Adjusting the heading bug and omnibearing selector would be great as often the yoke of the craft gets in the way of them. I’m currently into Cargo Pilot, which is fantastic by the way, and I’m using the Cessna 208B Caravan. As good as it’s load carrying ability is, the yoke is in the way of the HSI and the heading bug and omnibearing selector. This means every time there’s a heading change I have to load up the 2D panel.

I look forward to seeing these in the near future.

As I am in the process of building a cockpit, this looks to be VERY interesting! And just a reminder: with one of my Go-Flight modules I can adjust heading bug, obs1&2, etc.!
