Grand Strand Airport Scenery Released

by mark.avey on July 2, 2008

JD Scenery has released Grand Strand Airport Scenery for Flight Simulator X:

Grand Strand Airport Scenery

Introducing Grand Strand Airport KCRE for FSX! The Grand Strand Airport is located just minutes from the shores of North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. The airport gets its name from its location in the “Grand Strand”, a 60 mile stretch of beach from Little River to Georgetown, South Carolina.
The “Strand” is a popular vacation spot, bringing in over ten million visitors per season. It is home to many theme parks, restaurants, and other attractions, including its beautiful clean beaches.

The Grand Strand Airport is the main general aviation airport of the region, and is home to the Ramp 66 FBO, Chippewa Aerospace, and Barnstormer Flite Signs. The airport is towered with a 6,000 ft. runway. CRE is host to extensive banner tow operations during the summer months, with the far side of the field being used to lift banners into the air, where they are flown along the beaches, advertising for local businesses.

JD’s rendition of Grand Strand Airport accurately models all existing facilities; including the Ramp 66 FBO, the maintenance shop hangars, The Chippewa Aerospace hangar, FAA control tower, and the various instrument and visual navaids such as the on-field VOR, ILS equipment, and VASI lights.

Much attention to detail is given, from the adjacent mini-storage complex, all the way down to the welcome mat at the door to the terminal. High resolution textures ensure crisp, clear visuals. The scenery takes a minimal hit on your frame rate count, and blends in well with the surrounding scenery.
