Condor - the gliding simulator - has reported on the use of their realtime visualization system at the 30th World Gliding Championships. The system looks pretty promising. I love the idea of spectators being able to “watch” the flights via Condor in real time.
From 6th till 20th of July, Rieti (Italy) was the place of the 30th World Gliding Championships in the non-flapped classes (standard, club, world). Postfrontal team has presented the test version of our realtime visualization system of gliders in Condor environment that has been used for the Rieti competition. The system used a new Central Italy scenery by Bluangel 56 which is two times bigger than Alpi 3 and all in high definition.
The system was also used in the 2008 Spanish nationals and will additionally enable reviewing of IGC files in non-realtime in normal or accelerated mode, time jumps etc. All cameras available in Condor are supported and there is an additional satellite view. With some small modifications, we will be able to use the system as spectator tool for viewing Condor races too.
