Flight Illusion Launches NAV Gauges

by mark.avey on August 29, 2008

Flight Illusion proudly presents the new range of navigational instruments for use with flight simulator. To celebrate their 3rd anniversary, the developers at Flight illusion have closed the gap and released the last instruments in the general aviation segment.

After the turn & bank coordinator and the F16 gauges, this is the third release of new products in 2008. The range includes a VOR 1 (with ILS functionality) a VOR2 and an ADF indicator. The 3 new gauges are an answer to many customers requests. They offer the full functionality of navigational instruments. The VOR gauges have a rotating compass rose linked to the OBS knob, 1 or 2 needle pointers that center in relation to the planes position on the glide scope, localizer or bearing. The gauges also show the status (FROM / TO / OFF / GS) as the plane flies. The ADF gauge shows the bearing to the ADF transmitter.

The three gauges are available separately or as a set. They connect to the central interface GSA-55. The gauges work with version 6.0 of the software.

Together with the basic six instrument set, the engine gauges and the Collins style radio set, the Navigational gauges allow to build a full GA panel, as was already the case for the B737 and KA35 panels.

Flight Illusion offers a wide variety of analogue gauges which can be used in different panel setups. The range includes gauges for MIP panels, standby gauges, overhead gauges, different sort of radio modules, engine gauges and an input/output module. With more than 60 different gauge types available as well as the possibility to customize generic gauges, Flight Illusion is one of the leading players in the cockpit builders market.

FlightSimLabs releases Aerosoft MCP747X Driver

by mark.avey on July 31, 2008

FlightSimLabs has released Aerosoft MCP747X Drivers for Flight Simulator X.

Specialized driver software to allow owners of Aerosoft Australia’s MCP747 and EFIS hardware units to interface their MCP hardware with the PMDG 747-400X line of simulations.

Requires Aerosoft MCP747 hardware unit with optional EFIS module(s).

This interface allows owners of Aerosoft Australia’s MCP747 hardware to interface their MCP with the PMDG 747-400X for FSX simulation product. Purchaser must already own and have installed a Aerosoft MCP747 in order to use this driver. Requires that the user also have installed the PMDG 747-400X airliner addon for FSX.

Purchasing this interface will allow the user to connect any MCP747 and optional EFIS module to the PMDG 747-400X product line on Flight Simulator X.

This try-before-you-buy downloadable driver provides a fully working, area-limited (around Greece’s Venizelos airport) version which can become fully enabled by purchasing a license key.

With an activated license key, the product becomes fully operating globally inside Flight Simulator X. Instructions on how to purchase are included by hitting the “Purchase” button within the driver user interface.

60% off Sim Cockpit Systems - Aircraft Cockpit FX

by mark.avey on June 19, 2008

If you fancy building yourself a home cockpit, now might be the time to start, with a massive 60% saving on the price of Sim Cockpit Systems - Aircraft Cockpit FX. Normally priced at $395, you can now get started on your project for just $149.95.

The FIGHTER AIRCRAFT COCKPIT FX offers a realistic simulator cockpit environment accommodating a LCD monitor and a scenery projection image visible through the front, left and right side windows. The stunning scenery presentation gives the impression of being more in an aircraft as opposed to being in front of a computer monitor. The field of view allows the feel of speed and facilitates runway tracking on take off and flare on landing. The generic design feature for aircraft using a joystick will bring your flight simulation experience to a new level. At this time only Microsoft Flight Simulator offers operation of multiple monitors on one computer. The instruments are displayed on the main monitor and the scenery is generated by the projector. Other simulation software suitability has to be determined by the user.

To use the Fighter Aircraft Cockpit FX as designed, a suitable computer with the required video card outputs, monitor, a projector, sufficient space and proper set-up is required. In order to drive the monitor and the projector, a newer generation type of computer with a dual output video card is required. Instead of a projector, another option is to use the Matrox TripleHead2Go along with three monitors for the scenery presentation. In this case mount a simple wall shelf to display the monitors at the windows opening height and move the cockpit towards the monitors.

Flight Illusion Gauges coming to X-Plane

by mark.avey on April 29, 2008

Fantastic news for X-Plane cockpit builders - Flight Illusion are to make available an interface to enable their gauges to work with X-Plane 9.1:

X-plane and Flight illusion are proud to announce the upcoming development of an interface to drive Flight Illusion gauges directly from X-plane. Many X-plane pilots and cockpit builders have asked since years if there would ever be a driver for these gauges. X-plane developer Austin Meyer is even doing better by adding direct support for flight Illusion hardware into X-plane. Setup for the gauges will be accessible on a tab in the JOYSTICK AND EQUIPMENT window. Austin Meyer expect the support to be available as of version 9.1 (expected in 3 months) and will be downloadable on www.x-plane.com .

More news and updates to follow soon.

New gauge from Flight Illusion

by mark.avey on April 16, 2008

Flight Illusion has added a new gauge to their collection for home cockpit builders - a turn and bank co-ordinator:

flight illusions turn and bank co-ordinator

Flight Illusion is proud to present it’s latest addition to the range of analogue panel gauges. The turn and bank co-ordinator was the missing piece in the basic 6 setup. With this new gauge, all kinds of setups, from general aviation to military aircraft can now be made. The gauge is based on a dual stepper motor configuration, allowing one axes to drive the ball and the other to turn the small airplane.

The turn & bank co-ordinator is truly a piece of master engineering. the GSA-69 (also called primary flight display) comes completely assembled and tested. With this new gauge, all kinds of setups, from general aviation to military aircraft can now be made. The gauge is based on a dual stepper motor configuration, allowing one axes to drive the ball and the other to turn the small airplane.
