Lisbon Airport Flight Operations Event
This Saturday (28th June, 2008), IVAO will be hosting their Lisbon Airport Flight Operations Event.
The Event
The “Real Flight event” is designed to reproduce the real operations of a major airport around the world. In this case we will be reproducing the real operations of Lisbon Airport (Portela, LPPT) using “MS Flight Simulator”. The flights are scheduled using a real timetable of Lisbon Airport adapted to IVAO’s rules and operations.
How to participate
In order to be a part of this event, you should have MS Flight Simulator and a valid IVAO ID. If you still don’t have an IVAO ID you can register and get one for free HERE.After that you should use the “Open slots” page in the event website in order to check the free slots to choose from, and choose one of those flights. At last but not least turn on the Flight Simulator , connect IvAp and let’s fly. ATC users should use the IVAO schedule system in order to reserve a position for this event.
How does this event works ?
All pilots are allowed to choose a maximum of 2 flights, (1) one departure and (1) one arrival. At the begining the pilots should take look at the “Open Slots” page and choose the flights that he want’s. The “Event Schedule” page is to check the slots already reserved.
Information about the airport
IVAOPT provides all the pilots and ATC’s with charts and info about Lisbon International Airport. This information should only be used for Flight Simulator and not for real world operations. For more information please click HERE.
Awards for Pilots
All pilots that wish to participate on this event will be granted with a division award. In order to receive the award you should land or takeoff within a 15 +/- minutes time window between the slot time and the actual time. This check will be performed later by our staff.
The Scenery
For increased realism we recommend the use of the following sceneries

VATSIM announces VAT-Spy version 1.0
VATSIM has issued the following release regarding VAT-Spy 1.0:
VATSIM is pleased to announce the release of VAT-Spy, a traffic and ATC viewer application exclusively for the VATSIM network. VAT-Spy was developed by Ross Carlson, author of VRC (Virtual Radar Client), an ATC radar simulator for VATSIM.
VAT-Spy was closely modeled after ServInfo, a popular traffic and ATC viewer for multiple online flying networks. VAT-Spy’s feature set includes a few new items such as:
- Smooth panning and zooming on the world map.
- Most fonts and colors on the map are customizable.
- Multi-threaded for high performance and responsive interface.
- Map bookmarks allow you to save favorite views of the map.
In general, the goal for VAT-Spy was to mimic the primary functionality of ServInfo, while providing a more responsive user interface through the use of multi-threading, as well as smooth panning and zooming on the world map.
VAT-Spy is a Windows desktop application built on the Microsoft .NET Framework. To learn more about VAT-Spy, see some screenshots, and to download the application, visit the VAT-Spy
home page.
